Ekiti seals school for flouting COVID-19 protocols

A school at Ilawe Ekiti, in the Ekiti South West Local Government Area has been sealed off by the Ekiti State Government for allegedly not complying to its instructions on the temporary closure of schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Victory College was locked on Friday following the order of the Commissioner for Education, Mr Foluso Daramola, after he received a brief report from officials of the ministry, who investigated the activities of the private school.

The proprietor was reported to be on the run.

The Ekiti State Government stated that the proprietor, “will face the wrath of the law for the violation of COVID-19 protocols in the state whenever he is apprehended.”

The commissioner further explained that the security agents were already in search of the proprietor.

Furthermore, on Sunday, the Assistant Director, Information, in the ministry, Kunle Adeniyi, stated that during the investigation, it was revealed that the proprietor of the school was organising extramural classes for pupils, which is against the government’s instruction on the temporary closure of schools in Ekiti State.

The Commissioner for Education maintained that the state government is committed to the healthy living of all the citizens of the state.
