The founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, says any attempt by the Federal Government to shut down churches once again will result in dire consequences, threatening that “fire will fall”.

Oyedepo made the statement during his church Service, even as he accused government officials of engaging in diabolical activities.

As part of efforts to curb the spread of coronavirus, religious centres were shut across the country in March.

The Federal Government announced a reopening in June.

However, it remained closed in Lagos State due to the high number of cases recorded it the country’s epicentre.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Saturday announced that churches and mosques will resume from August 7 and Oyedepo has warned against a future lockdown.

His words: “I know the world will come to a point where it will say, ‘we’ve been fooled’. Because it’s the Devil that’s fooling the world. He has the capacity to deceive the whole world.

“Thank God we are not fooled. Thank God He made us smarter than our enemies

“It’s only in this hall that they lay hands on coronavirus patients and then walk free, and heal them straight – doctors, nurses – and lead them to Christ, 29 at a time.

“Jesus loves you, I will pray for you now. Be free in the name of Jesus.”

On shutting down of churches, he said: “Could they have asked me in person, should we shut down the church? Could anybody have asked me that question? No, they know where to ask. They know who to call.

“There are many pastors like that [like me] in this country, you can’t dare them. Ask them do we close down the church? Did you close down your cult houses, your Ogboni houses? Did you close them down? Don’t you go there yourself?”

The cleric then started speaking in tongues which of course we can’t come up with the interpretation but what follows immediately is: “…That next time anybody attempts that, fire will fall.”
