24 persons have died of coronavirus in Edo, Obaseki says

Edo State Government says the state has recorded five new deaths from the coronavirus, taking the fatality tally to 24.

In a tweet on Monday, Governor Godwin Obaseki said most of the victims were above 60 years.

He said that Stella Obasanjo Hospital recorded one death while University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) recorded four.

“We have recorded 5 new #COVID19 deaths, bringing the no. of fatalities to 24. 1 of the deaths is at Stella Obasanjo Hospital and 4 at @ubthng.

“Most of the deaths are persons above 60 years. Also, 13 patients have been discharged. Please obey safety guidelines and stay safe,” Mr Obaseki wrote.

The five deaths are among 12 which the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced on Sunday night.

Overall, 354 persons have died of the virus in the country.
