Osun records 2 COVID-19 deaths, 13 positive cases set to increase

The Osun State Government has announced the death of two coronavirus patients in the state.

Governor Gboyega Oyetola broke the news at a press briefing in Osogbo, on Sunday.

The governor revealed that while one patient died at Ede, the other lost the battle to COVID-19 in Ile-Ife.

“We are sad to announce the death of two confirmed cases; one in Ede and the other in Ile-Ife,”  he said. 

The state government, had on Saturday, disclosed that it conducted fresh 167 coronavirus tests, out of which 12 returned positive.

Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu, in a statement said that the new cases were recorded in Osogbo, Ife, Ede, Ikire and Ejigbo.

Oyetola confirmed that the new casualties were from the fresh dozen infections.

The governor, though, insisted that the lockdown will continue, urging the security operatives not to compromise.

He, however, warned that lorries carrying foodstuffs would from now be bared from entering the state at night.

Osun is the fifth worst-hit in the country with a total of 35 positive cases.

Lagos is the nation’s epicentre with 689, followed by the Federal Capital Territory (138), Kano (77) and Ogun (37).
