President of Tanzania, John Magufuli has died at age 61. He had been rumoured to have died from complications of Covid-19. However, he was actually registered to have died of a heart problem.

Magufuli, last year had declared Tanzania “coronavirus free” and as a result of that, the government had stopped publishing data on the number of coronavirus cases in the country.

The last data on coronavirus updates has been on April 29, 2020 with 509 cases, 21 deaths.

The former president, who didn’t believe in the deadly disease, died on Wednesday from heart complications at a hospital in Dar es Salaam.

According to news sources, the president has not been seen in public for two weeks before his death which has been rumoured to be linked to coronavirus.

This, of course, is alarming to majority who are not oblivious to the late president’s belief when it comes to Covid-19.

Magufuli is famous to some quotes made to reassure his people during his time. Here are some of the quotes made;

Magufuli argued the need for vaccines when vaccines haven’t been made for certain illnesses like malaria and HIV/AIDS.

1. “You should stand firm. Vaccinations are dangerous. If the white man was able to come up with vaccinations, he should have found a vaccination for AIDS by now; he would have found a vaccination of tuberculosis by now; he would have found a vaccination for malaria by now; he would have found a vaccination for cancer by now.”

He also talked about complications from vaccines.

2. “In a certain country, its girl children aged below 14 years were vaccinated against what was said to be cervical cancer, but it later emerged that the vaccination was meant to make them infertile.”

Still on vaccination, the late President advised his people to be conscious of the movement.

3. “The Health ministry must know that not every vaccination is meaningful to our nation. Tanzanians must be mindful so that we are not used for trials of some doubtful vaccinations which can have serious repercussions on our health.”

4. “We have lived for over one year without the virus because our God is able and Satan will always fail. The Health ministry should be cautious, and avoid the temptation to turn us into a country where vaccination trials are conducted freely.”

5. “Coronavirus, which is a devil, cannot survive in the body of Christ…It will burn instantly…These Holy places are where God is. My fellow Tanzanians, let us not be afraid of going to praise Him.”
