Gov Sanwo-Olu vows to take over abandoned property across state, cites security threats

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has vowed to take over abandoned property if the owners fail to possess them because they pose security threats.

The Governor made the statement today at the 7th Corporate Assembly tagged BOS meets business and warned that any property owner who failed to take possession will loose the property or the structures would be pulled down. He stated that the necessary Land Use Legislation will be invoked to effect his actions.

The governor promised to address all the issues raise by business owners and corporate players present at the meeting, especially if the issues were not being addressed.

In her presentation, the President of Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Toki Mabogunje, tasked federal and state governments on the need to identify and value public assets lying fallow across the country, not necessarily for sale, but to generate revenue from them.

The Lagos State Chairman of National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, Adams Adebayo, who commended the state government for its efforts in supporting small businesses, appealed for more support, noting that Lagos is home to over three million micro businesses.

The Vice President, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), John Aluya, called for concerted efforts from government to help address the sharp decline in capacity utilisation of manufacturing companies.
