A rare glimpse into the unknown inside of a Covid-19 treatment isolation ward

Nigeria seems to be making a good and steady progress in the treatment of persons confirmed to have contracted the dreaded Coronavirus in the country.

With no fewer than 20 of the 184 patients down with the disease discharged from the various COVID-19 treatment/isolation centres in the country so far, a peep into a ward in one of those centres shows a happy bunch of patients making quick recoveries.

KaftanPost is in possession of a video shoot of the inside of a ward of one the centres, most probably in Lagos. It was made by one of the happy patients.

With a mix of both Nigerian and foreign patients, this temporary treatment/isolation centre has about 20 bed spaces, some unoccupied.

The large luxury canopy hospital, with a sparkling tiled floor, apart from the typical patients’ beds is equipped with large split units air conditioners, fans and of course the much talked about and sought after ventilators, among other medical equipment, to take care of any breathing difficulties by the patients.

On hand to attend to the patients is a well kitted medical doctor who could be seen preparing for what could be a ward round.

Their feeding is also being handled by properly kitted and experienced caterers who supply them with different types of food and drinks for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Of course, medication was not in short supply as one of the happy patients could be seen display a satchet containing his medicine, perhaps the dosage for that night.

The video shoot opened with testimonies from the patients who attested to the facts that they were being taken good care of by the state government and the medical personnel.

If all the other centres are like this, Nigeria could well and truly be on the way to overcoming threat posed to her population by COVID-19.
