Abducted INEC official regains freedom in Bayelsa

The Supervisory Presiding Officer, SPO, with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), abducted on the eve of the governorship election, has regained his freedom.

Recall that the SPO was abducted by gunmen on Friday, on his way to the Registration Area Centre – 06 (Ossioma) in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The official was forcefully taken by his captors on Friday while waiting to board a boat at the Amassoma Jetty. But a few hours later, the electoral body confirmed the release of its official.

In a statement, the Head of Voter Education and Publicity of the state INEC in Yenagoa, Mr Wilfred Ifogah, confirmed his release to journalists.

Ifogha, who thanked those to showed concern and contributed towards the release of the INEC official, said the officer is doing fine.
