The Niger State government says the bombing of an area in Shiroro LGA by aircraft of the Nigeria Airforce has displaced 8,150 persons.

The Secretary to Niger State Government, Alhaji Ahmed Matane, on Saturday in Minna, said the Galadima-Kogo and its environs in Shiroro Local Government Area was bombarded by the Airforce on 24th January 2023.

Matane, who debunked the story that the bombing was conducted by mysterious aircraft said the state government had discussed with Shiroro Local Government Council officials and the management of the North-South Power (NSP) facilities in the area that provide shelter for the IDPs to cushion their present challenges.

According to him: “We are doing an assessment to deal with the matter and we are also dealing with the issue of those who lost their lives from the angle of security personnel that were accidentally affected.”

He explained that some deaths have been recorded while those injured are being attended to in hospitals, stressing that relief materials are being processed to take to victims while the government is also working to ensure that security is provided at the IDP camps.
