The Kebbi State Chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has condemned the alleged attack and take-over of its national headquarters by the Chairman of Suleja Local Government Area in Niger State, Abdullahi Maje.

Chairman of Jega Local Government Area, Shehu Sarki Kebbi, made this known in a statement on Sunday.

Mr Maje reportedly stormed the Maitama headquarters, last Tuesday, and declared himself interim president while also inaugurating a seven-member Interim Management Committee (IMC) to pilot the affairs of the association for the next six months.

Other members of the IMC are Ige Emmanuel, Deputy President (South-West); Kingsley Innaji (South-East); Philip Okparaji (South-South); Jingi Rufai (North-East); Shehu Jaga (North-West), and Niyi Adeagbo as Public Relations Officer.

In his inaugural speech, Mr Maje had said the committee’s mandate was to set up an ALGON Electoral Committee to conduct elections into the offices of president and National Executive Council.

Reacting, Kebbi described Maje as ‘hungry’ and without any clear vision for the association.

On behalf of the Kebbi chapter, the Jega LG boss expressed total support for Kolade David Alabi and his entire Executive Council.

He, however, urged the public to disregard any information from Maje as he has no right to do such.
