The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has sacked the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a judgement delivered on Tuesday, the court declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Hon. Sa’ad Abdullahi Ibrahim (Turakin-Opanda), as the rightful winner of the election for Umaisha/Ugya State Constituency.

The Election Tribunal sitting in Lafia, had earlier upheld his election.

The three-member panel led by Justice Francisca Nnang Isoni, during her ruling dismissed the petition for lack of merit.

The candidate of the PDP was seeking to declare him winner in the state assembly constituency argued that the Speaker was not duly elected by the majority votes.

However, in Tuesday’s ruling by the upper Court, Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi would be replaced by Hon. Sa’ad Abdullahi Ibrahim of the PDP.
