The Nigerian Army Headquarters, Abuja, was on Tuesday morning, gutted by fire.

The Army, however, in a statement by its Director, Public Relations, Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima, described the incident as “minor”.

According to Yerima, an electrical fault sparked the inferno at the complex.

“The incident which happened at about 10.15am was as a result of minor electrical fault in one of the offices”, he said.

The statement added that the Army Headquarters complex is currently undergoing some renovation involving electrical rework while noting that no lives was lost.

“The Nigerian Army Fire Service Department has since put out the fire,” Yerima revealed.

“No casualty was recorded during the incident and normalcy has since returned to the complex”.
