The Lagos State Government has arraigned popular auto dealer, Ikechukwu Ogbonna aka IVD on Monday before an Ikeja High Court over his wife, Bimbo’s death.

He was charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter where he pleads not guilty. Bimbo Ogbonna had died October 15, just three days after a fire accident at their home.

The defence counsel Victor Ogunde (SAN) sought for bail for the defendant following his arraignment. His reason was that the suit against the defendant carries a different number.

The state counsel, Adeshola Bello, stated that the dates were not correct and she appealed to the court to make an amendment so they can carry on with the proceeding.

The alleged offence, she said, contravened Section 222 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

She said, “We have on record Oct.10, 2022, but the actual date of the incident was October 12. We pray for the indulgence of the court to make an amendment on the date.”

Justice Modupe Nicole-Clay questioned the defence for asking for a bail for his client even though he has been on bail since March 1.

The case was adjourned to March 30 for the trail to fully begin.
