For the second time in two months, the popular Balogun Market in central Lagos is being engulfed with fire with no fewer than eight buildings currently up in smoke.

Parts of the market, renowned for stocking the best in fabrics, shoes and all sorts of wares was similarly razed by a massive fire outbreak last December which left at least two buildings in ruins.

The latest fire incident is arguably the most extensive fire to have impacted the market since its last one two months ago.

Fire fighters from the Lagos State Fire Service and similar agencies are battling to contain the inferno, just as the affected traders are beginning to count their losses.

Balogun Ajeniya Market is a market located on Lagos Island in Lagos State, Nigeria. The market has no particular address because it sprawls across so many streets on the island. It is recognized as the best place to buy fabricsshoes and all sorts of wares
