A newly elected councillor in Katsina State, Alhaji Nasiru Magaji, has been shot dead by bandits in the early hours of Wednesday.
The late councillor who was popularly known Nasiru B.S, was killed in Gozaki town of Kafur Local Government Area of the state.
He was shot in his residence and rushed to a hospital in Malumfashi, where he was confirmed dead.
A resident of Gozaki, Abdullahi Gozaki, told newsmen that the gunmen who were about 10 in number also abducted the two wives of the slain councillor, but later released them.
“They attacked in the early hours of today (Wednesday) around 12:30 am, killed the councillor and abducted his two wives but later sent them back home,” he said.
Recall that the newlywed bride of an immigration officer was also kidnapped in the same Gozaki town amongsy series of attacks in the past.
