Bandits demand ₦200m ransom for kidnapped Kaduna Emir

Bandits who abducted the Emir of Kajuru, Alhassan Adamu, have demanded a ransom of N200 million for the release of the monarch.

The Kaduna State Command of the Nigeria Police has confirmed the abduction of the Emir of Kajuru by bandits in the early hours of Sunday.

The Police Command said the 85-year-old traditional ruler was attacked and kidnapped in his residence around 2:34 am by bandits who stormed the community in large numbers and carried dangerous weapons.

Apart from the Emir, 10 members of his family were also abducted, the Police confirmed.

A ransom of N200 million has now been demanded as disclosed by the spokesperson of the Kajuru Emirate Council, Dahiru Abubakar, on Monday.

He said the bandits also gave assurances that all the victims are in good condition and were not being molested.

The Council spokesperson noted that on their part, they are appealing for the unconditional release of the traditional ruler and others kidnapped with him.

Meanwhile, security agents have reportedly commenced search in the forests for the monarch.
