Former Military leader, Abdulsalami Abubakar, has expressed confidence that agitations for the break-up of Nigerian won’t work.

There have been agitations across different sections of the country with those from the Southwest insisting on the Yoruba Nation, while those from the Southeast have demanded for the Biafra Republic.

Abubakar, at the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) legacy Dialogue 2021, said that rather than agitating for separation, Nigerians should embrace their diversity and work towards maintaining unity.

“Even if you break Nigeria now, how are you going to do? When everybody, every Nigerian, anywhere you go in the village, you will find a Hausa man, a Yoruba man, an Igbo man, Itsekiri and so on and so forth,” he said.

“So, when you say you divide, where do you draw the line with the inter-marriages and so on and so forth? It is going to be difficult.”

“He advised Nigerians that all hands should be on deck to address the menace, calling on Nigerians to expose perpetrators of insecurity.”

“So, let us expose them to the authorities and let us put our hands on deck to tackle the security challenges,”.

Present at the event were former Senate President, David Mark; Chairman, Daar Communications Plc, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi; President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ambassador George Obiozor; former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha; Professor Jerry Gana; former Governor of Niger State, Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu amongst many others.
