Tragedy struck at the early hours of Tuesday when a storey building collapsed along Fanibi Junction in Akure, the Ondo State capital, killing one person, while other members of the family were trapped.
It was gathered that the incident occurred around 3 o’ clock in the morning while the occupants were asleep.
An eyewitness told our correspondent that one of the occupants, a woman, died instantly after the building collapsed as her body had been taken out.
He said neighbors had been helping to rescue others including children trapped in the building as the fire brigade had not responded after over two hours when they were contacted.
The total number of casualties is still unknown as at the time of filing this report.
