President Mohammadu Buhari has appointed Major General Farouk Yahaya as the new Chief of Army Staff.
This was made known on Thursday by the Acting Director, Defence Information, Onyema Nwachukwu.
Major General Yahaya was the General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and the incumbent Theatre Commander of the Counter terrorism Counter Insurgency military outfit in the North East code named Operation HADIN KAI.
He will replace late Gen Ibrahim Attahiru who died in a plane crash in Kaduna, last week.
Meanwhile, many seniors in courses from Attahiru and above Yahaya have to compulsorily retire on top of course sets wasted by extended years of Buratai.
