Buhari confers GCFR, GCON honours on Tinubu, Shettima

President Muhammadu Buhari has conferred the National Honour of Grand Commander of Order of Federal Republic, (GCFR) on the incoming President Bola Tinubu.

Also incoming vice president Kashim Shettima was conferred with the honour of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).

Buhari conferred the honour on Tinubu and his vice at the ongoing Investiture Ceremony in Abuja on Thursday.

The GCFR and GCON honour comes as part of the Investiture Ceremony for the President-Elect and his Vice, Kashim Shettima.

President Buhari will hand over next Monday, on May 29, to the President-Elect, Tinubu.

He had been under immense pressure, catching up with the array of events lined out for the inauguration, coupled with wrapping up official duties of his office.

Recall that Buhari was joined by Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha; the Minister of Defense, Major General Salihi Magashi; the Chief of Defense Staff General Lucky Irabor and the Service Chiefs at the close of the Regimental Dinner organised in his honour by the Armed Forces at the newly commissioned Nigerian Armed Forces Officers’ Mess, Asokoro, Abuja on Tuesday.

The President commissioned the new Nigerian Customs Service headquarters buildings in Maitama District of the FCT, before virtually inaugurating six other projects across the country.

He also presided over another extraordinary Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting from midday till late Tuesday evening, before heading out for the Regimental Dinner.
