Buhari confers national honours on Okonjo-Iweala, Kyari, others

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday conferred national honours to 449 Nigerians and friends of Nigeria.

The awardees include the Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; the President’s late Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari; Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State; Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Ishaq Oloyede; the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola; Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State amongst others.

Others were awarded the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR), and Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON).

Prominent musicians including Burna Boy, 2face Idibia, Teni joined the list of those that were honoured.

In all, six Nigerians bagged the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), 55 others received Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR), Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) went to 65 Nigerians, Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) 70; six foreigners bagged OFR; Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) 110; Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) 74; Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) 55; Federal Republic Medal I (4); and Federal Republic Medal II (4).
