Afrobeat singer, Damini Ogulu, also known as Burna Boy, has won the award for Best International Act at the 2021 BET Awards show held last night, June 27, 2021 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
This is the third time in a row for Burna Boy, making him the first African Artiste to win three consecutive BET Awards.
He is also the first African Artiste to win two successive BET Awards. He won the BET Best International Award (global) in 2019, 2020 and 2021.
The singer beat fellow Nigerian, Wizkid, and Diamond Platnumz from Tanzania to the award.
Others in the category are Aya Nakamura (France), Headie One (United Kingdom), Young T & Bugsey (United Kingdom), Emicida (Brazil) and Youssopha (France).
The event was hosted by Hollywood actress, Taraji P. Henson.
