Cholera outbreak: 15 die, 40 hospitalized in Kano

At least 15 people have died in Koya village of Minjibir Local Government Area of Kano State, following suspected cholera outbreak.

This was confirmed by the village head, Sulaiman Muhammad, saying that most of the victims were women and children.

Health officials have therefore, cautioned people against further drinking water from their wells and streams.

Reports claim 300 bags of sachet water were supplied to the community by individuals at the weekend to check further spread of the disease.

Meanwhile, World Health Organization (WHO) has supported Benue State to curb a cholera outbreak among vulnerable populations.

Recall that early in January 2021, the Local Government Area (LGA) Disease Surveillance Notification Officers (DSNOs) of Agatu and Guma reported suspected cases of the disease with onset of index cases in Agatu and Guma being December 30, 2020 and January 5, 2021 respectively.
