The FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello, has urged Abuja residents, especially Christians faithful, to imbibe the virtues of humility, courage, honesty and love for one another which Jesus Christ epitomised.
The minister, who felicitated with the Christians on the celebration of Christmas, gave the advice through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Anthony Ogunleye on Tuesday in Abuja.
Bello also enjoined Christians to make supplications to Almighty God for good health and for Him to give wisdom to the country’s leaders at all levels of government.
According to him, the Federal Capital Territory Administration wishes all FCT residents a very merry Christmas and a prosperous 2020.
The minister assured the residents that arrangement had been put in place by the relevant agencies for adequate security during the Christmas holidays.
Bello urged the residents to obey all extant rules, especially traffic regulations, as well as observing the ban on the use of fireworks.
The minister advocated peaceful co-existence and harmonious relationship amongst residents of the territory.
He reminded them that FCT was the symbol of Nigeria’s unity, adding that all residents had a duty to reflect that symbol by eschewing all factors that tended to divide them.
The minister called on them to embrace things that united them.
Bello, who said that the FCT administration always put the wellbeing of all residents as the focus of its developmental agenda, solicited their cooperation for the success of all government programmes.
He lauded the residents for their understanding and cooperation, adding that the Federal Government had implemented the Safe, Functional and Efficient Traffic Management policy in Abuja.
Bello further disclosed that efforts were on to reposition the territory’s public transportation system to serve the residents better.
According to him, discussions are ongoing with private public transport operators to provide affordable and efficient transportation services.
