The Presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Prince Adewole Adebayo says corruption can only end in Nigeria if government officials stop stealing.
He made this claim in a video interview that was posted on his Twitter handle on Wednesday.
According to the renowned lawyer, there is nothing complicated about corruption as every crime committed on the street, he says, 10 are committed Inside the government.
Prince Adebayo also noted that the country has a government in absential.
In his words “If you don’t study the economy and you are repeating what the government people are telling you, you will be confused and you will not be able to find solution because one, there is no government. That is what is worrying you now, you should know that there is no government.
“Suppose we have a president and instead of the president to be in Aso Rock, he goes to Daura and locks his door and doesn’t come out for for six months, will you still say you have a government?
“Armed robbers and bandits are coming to steal, kill and rape every night, would you say you have security.”
Speaking on why the economy continues to bleed, the renowned lawyer said “You shouldn’t ask me why is the economy bleeding, who is buying the dollars, can you ask your workers your neighbours when last they bought dollars, why is the dollars going up? Who is buying it, for what reason, the same people.
“Did you not see the dollars being shared at Eagles square when they were doing their convention? Did you not see EFCC going to the national stadium. Have you seen anywhere in the world where a political party’s convention is perceived by the law enforcement as a crime scene, stating obviously that they are looking for people who are Sharing money.
“Accountant General of the Federation has stolen 190billion . Accountant General of the Federation is not a big man, he’s a very small person and if that small person is taking 190billion, then what do you think the Ministers are doing, what do you think the people in the big house, the Aso Rock are doing, what do you think the President himself is doing” he queried
On if President Muhammadu Buhari’s corruption mantra has failed, “I don’t know about his mantra, I think the last time he spoke about corruption was when he was contesting, I don’t know if he still remembers the word anymore.
“Corruption ends when the government stops stealing, there is nothing complicated about corruption. Don’t let us go into it corruption ends the daya government comes that does not do the stealing. For every crime you see on the street, there are 10 committed Inside the government”
