Ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in most states of the Federation, a Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo has disqualified the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Sani Danladi from contesting in the election.

Mr. Danladi was disqualified Wednesday by the court presided over by Justice S.D Pam over irregularities in his age declaration.

However, the APC in a swift reaction condemned the judgment describing it as “mischievous and comical” and an attempt to demoralize its teeming supporters less than four days to the election.

Various reports from Jalingo, the state capital quoted a statement by the publicity secretary of the party in the state, Aaron Artimas as saying that a (similar) matter had been dealt with by the Appeal Court in 2007 which dismissed it, stressing that “it should also be noted that all judgment passed by the appeal court supersede those of the lower courts in the whole country”.

While calling on all its supporters to remain calm and go about their campaigns peacefully for Saturday’s election, the APC said legal steps are being taken to discharge the court ruling.
