COVID-19: AMAC Chairman donates 3 months salary for council wage bill

The Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Mr Abdullahi Candido, has donated his three months’ salary, to help reduce the effect of the coronavirus pandemic on wage bill of the council.

He made the donation at a mentorship and motivational programme, organised by the council for its management staff on Friday in Abuja.

Candido in a statement by the Head of Information, AMAC, Mrs Patience Olaloye, said that salary which includes that of April, May and June, would further boost and strengthen the economy of the council.

“My 100 per cent salary for the three months of April, May and June, will go to the council’s treasury to help strengthen and stimulate the economy of the council,” he said.

The chairman also directed that a 10 per cent cut be made on the salary of his statutory cabinet members for the same three months period as sacrifice for the same course.

He said that five per cent cut, should however be made on the salaries of non-statutory members of his cabinet.

The chairman further stated that 50 per cent of his monthly salary, which had been going for the welfare of widows, orphans and the aged in the council since 2016, would however, be put on hold for the three months period.

He assured that the welfare scheme would however, resume in July.
