The 23 government owned airports under the control of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) will be visited by the agency.

The General Manager, Public Affairs Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, made the disclosure on Tuesday while noting that the tour was part of an effort to assess their infrastructural needs, check their preparation in handling traffic ahead of the Christmas celebration in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The schedule from the FAAN team made up of the Managing Director, Captain Rabiu Yadudu, shows the visit to the 23 airports in the next 10 days beginning from the Yakubu Gowon Airport Jos, then Bauchi Airport, Kaduna Airport, Gombe and Maiduguri Airports before taking another batch of airports.

Recall that last week, the FAAN management team in the company of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) inspected the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) ahead of plans to commission the airport.

The objective of the visits and assessment tours according to FAAN management was to evaluate the compliance of the airports to health protocols even as the airports prepare for heavy passenger inflows across the nation’s airports.
