COVID -19: Nigeria flies to epicentre, plans repatriation of Nigerians from Italy

At a time Italy is literally yanked off from the rest of the world, the Nigerian government is on a rescue mission to the European nation.

With 18,849 fatalities as at Saturday morning according to Hopkins University, Italy is Europe’s epicentre of COVID-19 albeit with fewer confirmed cases than Spain.

In a letter dated 6th April and signed by Nigeria’s Ambassador to Italy, the Federal Government revealed that it has concluded plans to evacuate Nigerians from the country.

The FG asked those willing to return home to provide their details, including COVID-19 status, travel documents, location and reason for the request to the Embassy in Rome.

The FG, however, warned that the prospective evacuees will responsible for their flight tickets back to Nigeria.
