Covid-19: Ondo sets up committee on mass production of facemask

As part of his effort to contain further spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, Ondo State Governor, Akeredolu Rotimi (SAN), has approved the constitution of a Special Committee for the mass production of facemask.

This is a strict follow-up on the decisions taken at the virtual meeting of the Southwest governors, held on Thursday, 18th April, 2020.

The governors also resolved that wearing of masks will be made compulsory in all six states, starting from Friday, 24th April, 2020.

Mr Gani Muhammed Ajowa will chair the committee while Pharmacist Folake Aladenola serves as Secretary and Pastor Niyi Ale (President, Ondo State chapter of National Union of Tailors), Mrs. Eunice Titilayo Oparinde, and Mrs. Sarah Emmanuel as members.

The committee, will among others, source for materials for the production of the masks, identify qualified tailors across the three Senatorial districts and  put in place machinery for its distribution to all residents of the state.

As at Sunday, Ondo has three cases of the novel coronavirus while fellow southwestern state of Lagos remains the epicentre with 376.
