Crowded: Ekiti sets up 47-man COVID-19 Fund Committee with ex-Governors as members

Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has appointed his predecessor, Ayodele Fayose, into a 47-member panel of eminent personalities to help mobilise resources to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

Mr Fayose and two other former governors, Niyi Adebayo and Segun Oni, will serve as patrons.

The Panel which is officially known as Ekiti State COVID-19 Response Resource Mobilisation Committee has former Minister of Health and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Juli Pharmacy, Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi as chairman.

Founder/Chancellor of the Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD), Afe Babalola, will serve as the grand patron.

The committee has as members captains of industry, distinguished private sector players, renowned professionals and prominent members of Ekiti in the Diaspora.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Development Partnerships, Margaret Fagboyo, is the secretary to the committee.

According to a release by the Secretary to the State Government, Biodun Oyebanji, the committee’s mandate among others, is to mobilise and advise on funds and project management, direct funding campaigns for the COVID-19 response.

“The state government would do everything humanly possible to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.”

Some of the members are former Minister of Health and Chief Executive Officer of Juli Pharmacy, Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi, will chair the committee which has, among others, the former Chairman of O’dua Investment, Sir Remi Omotoso; former Chairman of United African Company, Mr Ayo Ajayi; Principal Partner of Aluko Oyebode and Co, Mr Gbenga Oyebode; CEO of Ecobank International, Mr Ade Ayeyemi; Chairman, Boyage Oil and Gas, Otunba Olutoye Ariyo; and President, Nigeria-American Chamber of Commerce, Otunba Toyin Akomolafe; as members.

  1. My concern on this 5G thing is whether the 5G will help in killing and fighting the coronavirus? We have an emergency at hand and they are trying to distract attention on what is more important.
    Moreso, must they invite the Chinese Drs. When our Drs are doing really good as we have more petients discharged and few deaths. The attention of Government for now should be how to contain the Coronavirus and not one technological advancement. Our 4G is still working…
