Edo Deputy Governor Shaibu denied access to govt house office

Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu was denied access to his government house office on Monday as reported unease between him and his principal, Governor Godwin Obaseki continues.

The Deputy Governor, in an attempt to have his way into the personal office of the Governor, along with his security aides met the gate under key and lock.

Reasons for the rift between the Governor and his deputy is yet to be known but Shuaibu has in several occasions, declared his allegiance to his principal.

The Deputy Governor was said to have arrived at the Office of the Governor on Dennis Osadebey Avenue early Monday.

Shuaibu had commenced the relocation of his office inside the Government House to No. 7, Dennis Osadebey Avenue where he will now operate from.

Recall that last week, a letter said to be from the office of the Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa, was reported to have been sent to the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Deputy Governor, directing Shuaibu to relocate to a new office situated at No 7, Dennis Osadebey Avenue, GRA, Benin City.

Speaking on Monday, in Benin City, Shaibu said he was yet to receive a formal letter from the Governor’s office to relocate to a new office.

“Up till now, I don’t have any official communication that I should relocate.

“The only people that have official communication are my civil servants. The civil servants have official communication but I don’t. As I am speaking to you now, I am standing by the gate,” he said.
