EFCC arrests TikTok artiste, Crown Uzama, others over fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Kaduna Zonal Command, has arrested a TikTok artiste and five others over criminal impersonation.

The commission released photos taken showing Crown Uzama in their custody.

The TikTok user, Crown Uzama, on a one-count charge appeared before Justice A.A. Isiaka.

Uzama, also known as Shalli Popi and Miller Maxwell, was convicted alongside Abdul-Azeez Suleiman Temidayo, Joel Kator, John Joseph, Favour Chidiogo Emmanuel and Bethel Makuochukwu.

According to the commission, the offence was contrary to Sections 142 (1), 57 and 308 of the Kaduna Penal Code Law, 2017 and punishable under Section 309 of the same Law.

The prosecuting counsel, M. E. Eimonye, M. U. Gadaka, M. Arumeni and K.S Ogunlade urged the court to convict them accordingly.

Makuochukwu who was initially tried two weeks prior over money laundering and Crown Uzama both pleaded guilty. Makuochukwu has been convicted.

The defendants were convicted and sentenced to two years imprisonment with the options of fines by Justice Isiaka.

The convicts are to forfeit all electronic gadgets, furniture and other items to the Federal Government.
