Equity market sustains growth, gains 0.57%

Trading activities on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) yesterday sustained growth profile, appreciating by N64 billion.

Specifically, market capitalisation of listed equities Increased by 0.57 per cent to N11.238 trillion from N11.174 trillion reported on Monday.

All Share Index rose by 172.74 basis points to 30137.53 points from 29964.79 points traded previously.

Investors exchanged 300.033 million shares worth N3.247 billion in 3760 deals against 124.126 million shares valued at N1.026 billion exchanged hands in 2438 deals.

An analysis of the transactions showed that Cement Company of Northern Nigeria led gainers table, appreciating by N2.00 to close at N22.00, Stanbic IBTC followed with a gain of N1.35 kobo to close at N47.50 kobo, C & I Leasing gained N0.75 kobo to close at N9.04 kobo, Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc added N0.55 kobo to close at N14.55 kobo, Oando Plc appreciated by N0.25 kobo to close at N4.55 kobo.

On the contrary, Total Nigeria Plc recorded the highest loss during the day, dropping by N5.20 kobo to close at N195.00, Air Service trailed with a loss of N0.75 kobo to close at N7.15 kobo, Guinness Nigeria Plc fell by N0.25 kobo to close at N64.75 kobo, UPL down by N0.10 kobo to close at N1.90 kobo, Neimeth international Pharmaceutical, Plc sheds N0.06 kobo to close at N0.64 kobo

The result further showed that Diamond Bank was the most active stock during the day, trading 100.673 million shares valued at N209.014 million, Guaranty Trust Bank followed with account of 39.406 million share cost N1.318 billion, United Bank for Africa exchanged 26.153 million shares cost N191.326 million, FBNHoldings sold 23.361 million shares valued at N171.864 million while Zenith Bank Plc traded 21.131 million shares worth N462.994 million.
