Deposed Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II on Friday left Awe, Nasarawa State where he had been in confinement since his dethronement on Monday by the Kano State Government for Lagos to begin a new life as an ordinary, free citizen.

Sanusi left Awe for Abuja on his way to Lagos shortly after 4 pm in company with the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El Rufai who had earlier on Friday paid him a visit

A Kaduna State Government statement Friday confirmed the Governor’s visit to the deposed Emir.

According to the statement issued by the El-Rufai’s media aide, Mr Muyiwa Adekeye, the governor drove from Abuja to Awe and met the deposed Emir in high spirit.

It said that El-Rufai arrived Awe shortly before a Federal High Court sitting  in Abuja that granted an interim order, releasing Sanusi from detention.

The statement said that Sanusi and El-Rufai attended Friday prayers together in Awe, where the deposed Emir led the Jumma’at prayer.

The statement further said that the duo left Awe for Abuja together, from where Sanusi will proceed to  Lagos.
