Mr Saheed Adejare-Alaran, a former Chairman of Iseyin Local Government council in Oyo State, on Friday, commended the initiative of the South-West governors in setting up a joint security outfit for the zone.

Adejare-Alaran, who gave the commendation in his New Year message, made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Iseyin, also solicited for the support of the people in the zone for the governors.

“The ‘Amotekun’ security outfit will become operational very soon and it is highly commendable; this is to underscore the uniqueness of our zone.

“Back in the days when we were still operating regional system of government, the South-West was a model for good leadership and centre of development for other regions.

“The present leadership of the South-West zone saw the need to improve the security of lives and property of our people and also revitalise regional integration. All these efforts are very laudable,” he said.

Adejare-Alaran, who was also the deputy governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) in the March 2019 governorship elections in the state, called for support for the joint security outfit.

While felicitating Nigerians on crossing into the new year, he called for prayers for the success of governments at both the state and the federal levels.
