Fela Kuti leads Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2021

Afrobeat legend and music composer, Fela Anikulapo Kuti who was recently nominated for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2021 is currently leading.

The late legend is leading with 57,714 votes with Tina Turner popularly known as the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll following with 53,186 votes.

The ranking as it stands

Recall that the president of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Greg Harris had released a list of nominees on Wednesday, February 10.

The list includes Fela Kuti, Tina Turner, Mary J.Blige, Kate Bush, Devo, Foo Fighters and others.

Since then, a great number of celebrities have reacted to the news via twitter and other social media platforms, campaigning for the late veteran music composer.

Celebrities like Burna Boy, Don Jazzy, Banky W, Mr Macaroni , Femi Kuti and others have clamoured for votes online.

Don Jazzy tweeted: “Come on Nigerians! We can do this. This us our Baba Fela we are taking about o.”

J.J.Omojuwa tweeted: “Fela is No. 1. But we need some daylight from the rest of the pack. Go to Vote.rockhall.com and seperate Fela Kuti further. Vote only Fela, your American faves can handle their own business! #voteFelaKuti.”

DeboMacaroni in his words said, “I humbly call on my amazing followers on here to cast a vote for the legendary Fela Kuti to be the Legendary Fela Kuti to be inducted into the Rock N Roll hall of Fame.”

Many more have reacted on twitter, with the hashtag vote.rockhall.com. Public voting is slated to end by April 2021.
