SPECIAL Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, Femi Adesina, has denied delaying the scrapping of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Adesina stated this on Sunday via Twitter in response to allegations he asked the president not to surrender to “Twitter warriors”.

Peoples Gazette had reported ahead of the announcement of the dissolution of SARS that Adesina stopped the president from dissolving the controversial police unit on Friday.

“The announcement was initially scheduled to be made on Friday after Mr. Adamu met with President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo at the State House, but was thwarted after presidential spokesman Femi Adesina said the administration should not surrender to Twitter warriors,” the online news platform reported.

“Mr. Adesina then proceeded to issue the highly-criticised statement that appeared to cast the president as insensitive to the #EndSARS campaign, which has gained worldwide backing over the past week.”

In his response, Adesina wrote: “A false story designed to malign me is making the rounds. It says the President was to have scrapped SARS on Friday, but was prevailed on by me not to do so, as government cannot bow to ‘Twitter warriors.’ Evil. Fake. A concoction from the very pit of hell.”
