A clash between two cults in the Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State claimed five lives on Saturday, November 5, 2022.

The clash was between the Icelanders and Greenlanders, two notorious cults in the area.

Residents claimed that the clash lasted for two hours with the cultists shooting sporadically ij the air and at themselves.

The cause of the clash is yet to be ascertained.

The state spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that their officers have been deployed to the area for security purposes and for intensive interrogation.

Two of the deceased have also been recognised with the three unrecognizable

She said, “In what appeared to be a fight for supremacy, five persons were reportedly killed.

“The names of the deceased persons include Chukwuemeka Kingsley, 36, and Chibuike Thankgod, 28. Three other copses have yet to be identified.

“Meanwhile, tactical patrol teams have been mobilised to the area to restore normalcy and investigation into the incident is in progress.”

Sources claim the two rival cults always have reasons to clash and it’s been ongoing for a long time.

The anonymous source said, “What I know is that the Icelanders and Greenlanders have been challenging each other.

“It is not surprising that they clash every time. The shooting yesterday (Saturday) was much. It lasted for over two hours.

“Nobody knows what really happened; this morning (Sunday) there were dead bodies on the floor.”
