……..Sends more B777-300 aircraft to Lagos, Cotonou

A large scale evacuation of French citizens in Nigeria and neighbouring Benin Republic is underway.

The French Government has dispatched wide bodied aircraft to the two countries to airlift back home its nationals living there as the Coronavirus pandemic spreads across West Africa.

Though the exact schedule and number of flights made and to be made have not been made public, two Boeing 777-300 aircraft are expected in Lagos and Cotonou on 2nd and 9th of April for the evacuation.

France, Italy and Spain have been the hardest hit by COVID-19 infection, since the pandemic broke out late last year in Wuhan, China.

Nigeria has been trying to contain the spread of the disease since it was first reported in Lagos on February 28th.

An Italian patient was the first to have the disease in the country.

The number had since risen to 65 according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
