FRSC confirms six dead in Ondo bus crash

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ondo State has confirmed the death of six persons in the auto crash in which a passenger bus plunged into a river at Aponmu village.

Spokesperson of the Ondo FRSC, Abiola Fadumo said those that died included three males, two females and a child.

He noted that rescue operation ended at about 7pm, stressing that eight persons injured in the accident were rushed to the hospital.

A man simply identified as Adewale, who just got married on Saturday, was among the six persons confirmed dead in the accident.

He was returning to Akure with his wife after the wedding at the Ikoyi Registry when the incident occured on Sunday afternoon.

Eyewitnesses say they were to conduct the traditional wedding next weekend.

The new wife was said to have been seriously injured in the accident.

It was gathered the bus, marked Lagos AAA 859 XC, plunged into the Owena river, killing the driver and five others.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver lost control while on top speed amidst heavy downpour.
