Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has alleged that those who attacked the police headquarters and a correctional facility in the state, came from outside.

Speaking on a television programmed later on Wednesday. Uzodinma also alleged that some aggrieved politicians were behind the attacks.

According to him, the hoodlums were hired from outside Imo State and only disguised to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

“What happened in Imo State last Monday is unbelievable. A group of hoodlums, of course sponsored by some known politicians in Imo State, decided to destroy public infrastructure and government facilities — and attacked a correctional centre facility and also attacked a police state headquarters.

“But what is important to take home is for Nigerians to know of the plot by a group of aggrieved politicians to destabilize the government of APC.

“I have done some thorough investigation and I have a credible lead as to those who are sponsoring these activities of these hoodlums.

“We are working hard to ensure that the sponsors of these dastardly acts are brought to book,” Uzodimma said.

Recall that unknown gunmen, on Monday, attacked the correctional centre in Owerri, the state capital, set the facility ablaze and freed over 1,844 inmates.

About 46 inmates, who escaped from the Imo State Correctional Centre, have voluntarily returned to the facility, according to reports.

Meanwhile, Police authorities have accused members of the IPOB of carrying out the attack on the government agencies.
