Suspected hoodlums have set ablaze some parts of the Federal High Court in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital.

The attack happened in the wee hours of Tuesday, after hoodlums gained access into the premise by scaling the fence. They left two security guards injured.

Reports claim that the hoodlums used petrol bomb to perpetrate the act, torching the court library while the security post was badly damaged.

The State Police Spokesman, DSP Loveth Odah, confirmed the incident adding that the hoodlums came in a large number.

She, however, said firefighters intervened and put out the fire.

“Hoodlums came in their large number and set a section of the court ablaze, but fire fighters promptly came and quenched the fire,” she said.

The attack has caused panic and forced the state operatives to be on alert.

There is currently a campaign of violence against government establishments in the South-East. It is also happening after gunmen killed two soldiers in the state on Monday.
