The Presidency has accused the spiritual director of Adoration Ministry, Rev Fr. Ejike Mbaka, of demanding for contracts as compensation for his support for President Muhammadu Buhari.
What started like a bromance between Buhari and Mbaka seem to be ending in a mutual rejection and blackmail.
It would be recalled that in 2015, Mbaka’s New Year theme was “Change”, same slogan with the APC before the general election that brought Buhari to office.
Recall also that in 2016, Mbaka said God was with Buhari and that anyone who curses him will be cursed by God.
“So I want to tell you that, so far, God is happy with Buhari. And him whom God has blessed, may you not try to accurse, because God will curse you,” said the priest.
He added that “President Buhari, go ahead and war against corruption. President Buhari, God and his people are behind you, you are the answer of the prayers of the people, Amen.’”
Prior to the 2019 election that gave Buhari victory for a second term, Mbaka rallied support for the president, saying that he deserves to be voted again for fighting corruption.
“A President that is fighting corruption needs to be supported,” he declared, adding that “Since Nigeria started, we have never experienced a President that has agricultural programmes like him.”
However, the cleric who was believed to be a staunch supporter of the President is now seen as a critic as he recently called for his resignation or impeachment over the prevailing insecurity in the country.
In response, the Presidency claims Mbaka is only fighting back for being refused contracts after approaching the President for one.
In a statement on Friday, titled “FATHER MBAKA IS EVERYTHING APART FROM WHAT HE CLAIMS TO BE” and signed by presidential aide, Shehu Garba, the Presidency claimed the cleric has made a complete u-turn after supporting Buhari “two times to win the Presidency”.
The statement reads: “An outsider distilling the avalanche of verbiage, will be surprised that after supporting the President two times to win the Presidency, Father Mbaka has made a complete U-Turn, preposterously asking President Buhari to resign or be impeached.
“Here is the point of departure: Father Mbaka asked for a meeting and to the shock of Presidential Aides, he came accompanied by three contractors. The President graciously allowed them in, and to everyone’s surprise, Father Mbaka asked for contracts as compensation for his support.
“Anyone familiar with President Buhari knows that he doesn’t break the laid down rules in dealing with contracts or any other government business for that matter. He requested the appropriate authorities to deal with the matter in accordance with laid down rules.
“Inside the Villa, discretion prevailed, that if those pictures and requests were made public, the followers will turn against the religious leader. None of it was released. Now, this is what is eating Father Mbaka.”
And so what if he demands for contract as compensation? As if Buhari did not know that this Mbaka is a false Prophet. A hypocritic and empty leader vs a false prophet, makes a good pair. Useless government that always have one nonsense to respond to trivialities when the Country is on fire. They won’t respond to real issues killing the country but the have the whole time to respond to Rev. Mbaka. What a government!
