Adamu, a son of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, has broken silence after testing positive for the coronavirus.

Atiku, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in last year’s general elections, had disclosed his son’s status via his verified Twitter account.

Being the Federal Capital Territory’s index case and the first influential Nigerian to test positive, outrage followed.

However, in his first appearance via social media, Adamu explained how he is coping with the stigma, trauma and support from friends and family.

“When I came here, the first few days, I was asymptomatic and had a little of anxiety and trauma,” he said.

“But day-by-day I grew stronger, thanks largely to all the goodwill, prayers and support I got from every Nigerian, many I don’t know.

” But of course, more obvious, my family, friends and associates, they’ve been very supportive.

“One thing I’d want to address is fake news. Fake news is very bad.”
