There was drama in the Imo State House of Assembly as Imo lawmakers on Monday morning removed Speaker Paul Emeziem from his position.

Emeziem of APC – Onuimo State Constituency was removed following resolution signed by 19 out of the 27 during a special sitting.

Member representing Ọrụ East State constituency, Hon. Chigozie Nwaneri, in a motion, accused the former Speaker of desecration of the Assembly among other impeachable offenses.

They immediately replaced him with Kennedy Ibe.

The lawmakers also reinstated Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu as Deputy Speaker of the Assembly.

Recall that Iwuanyanwu was impeached by 18 out of the 27 lawmakers last Tuesday.

The former Speaker Paul Emeziem, who presided over the plenary, okayed the impeachment of Iwuanyanwu without reading the content of the resolution.
