Insecurity: Matawalle declares total lockdown in three LGAs

Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, has declared a total lockdown in Anka, Bukkuyum and Gummi Local Government Areas of of the state following the resurgence of bandit attacks.

The governor also ordered the immediate suspension of all political activities in the state including APC meetings till further notice, as part of the measures to expedite the efforts of security operatives in flushing out criminal elements in those areas.

He made this known in a statement on Friday by the Commissioner for information, Ibrahim Dosara.

The statement noted that the lockdown was imposed to curb the spate of attacks in Yarkofoji, Birnin Tudu, Rini, Gora Namaye, Janbako, Faru, Kaya, Boko and Mada towns.

While lamenting the resurgence of the activities of bandits and the recent killings of some innocent people in Gusau, Tsafe, Gummi, Bukkuyum, Anka Bungudu, Maru, Maradun and Kaura Namoda local government areas, the governor further advised all stakeholders invited for the Friday APC meeting to hold on for a new date, while security operatives have been directed to deal with those found violating the orders.
