Intrigues as Ambassador Nuhu Bamalli is new favourite for Emir of Zazzau

The drama and intrigues over who succeeds late Emir of Zazzau, Shehu Idris appears to have taken a new twist with the country’s serving Ambassador to Thailand, Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli touted to be favourite.

Bamalli, who initially wasn’t in the fray seems to have knocked off other contenders due to his close bond with Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

The 55-year-old at one point served as Special Assistant to the governor and reports say both are from the same family lineage.

Bamalli, currently the Magajin Garin Zazzau is the son of the first Republic former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alhaji Nuhu Bamalli who was a grandson of late Emir Aliyu Dansidi.
A lawyer by training, he is a former Asst. Director in Nigeria Security Printing and Minting.

It is believed that El-rufai influenced all higher positions occupied or attained by Bamalli including his current position and may once play the cards in his favour.

 

It is being reported that five high chiefs after extensive consultations with all legitimate stakeholders in Zazzau Emirate came up with three names for the vacant throne.

Governor El-Rufai is expected to pick from the trio and sources say the ambassador could once again enjoy his goodwill.
