The Kano State Government, on Friday, directed its ministries, departments and agencies to maintain a clean environment for the safety and welfare of civil servants.
Alhaji Tukur Getso, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, gave this directive when he led the state task force committee on sanitation to inspect some ministries.
According to him, it is the obligation of the heads of agencies and ministries to provide clean working environment for staff and other stakeholders.
The committee expressed displeasure on the poor sanitation condition at the premises of the Ministry of Works and Housing.
It, however, gave the ministry an ultimatum to address the situation before the team would return there to monitor compliance.
Getso, while addressing newsmen after the inspection, decried the insufficiency of drainage at the Yankaba Motor Park.
“All users of public places have a stake in ensuring cleanliness, and we should be mindful that all religions support hygiene in every sense of it.”
The permanent secretary lauded the state anti-corruption agency for maintaining a healthy working environment.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kano State, since the commencement of the Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje administration, introduced the monthly environmental sanitation.
The sanitation exercise takes place at motor parks and markets on the last Friday of every month.
