Kusada Local Government Council in Katsina state has drilled 40 boreholes across ten wards in the area to provide potable water to the people.

Alhaji Isma’il Kusada, the council chairman, made this known in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kusada on Tuesday.

He said the boreholes had been placed under the care of the local water users’ committee formed in each of the benefiting wards.

Kusada said the council had repaired no fewer than 50 existing boreholes that were not functioning for a long time, stressing that the initiative had increased access to potable water in rural communities.

The council boss also said his administration had provided bursary allowance to hundreds of indigent students studying in tertiary institutions in its efforts at promoting education in the area.

He stated that the council would collaborate with relevant stakeholders on education to jerk up pupils’ enrollment in primary and junior secondary schools in the area.

Kusada said such measure would ensure  improvement in the enrollment of the Girl-Child in school.

He therefore called on parents to enroll their children in schools assuring that
the council would support aggressive pursuit for education in the council
area.
